MORRISTOWN, NJ. On Sunday, September 10, beginning at 1 p.m., join a fashion show featuring stunning period clothing and undergarments at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum Mansion in Morris Township.
For centuries, women were willing to go through torturous processes just to get dressed, or have the perfect body. Since dieting and exercise didn’t always yield the desired results, Victorian women took a different, and often dangerous approach, for a quick fix. Models dressed in period clothing display and discuss the sometimes torturous process of getting dressed in the 19th century.
From tight corsets and massive crinolines, to bustles and bum-rolls, learn about the dangers and delights of some of history’s most controversial and interesting garments. The fashion show takes place each hour, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and reservations are required.
