- On Saturday April 14, 2018, Somerset County 4-H will open itself up to kids in grades 1-5 for its annual 4-H Science-sational Day. This fun-filled event will take place at the Ted Blum 4-H Center located at 310 Milltown Rd., in Bridgewater, from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. Science-sational Day is open to 4-H members, as well as non-members. The cost is $25 per child. Parents are FREE. Registration must be done online. Science-sational Day is a day full of fun and educational workshops that has occurred since 1991. This year’s event stands to be another great one as Somerset County 4-H has 12 workshops that showcase a variety of interests. This year brings back favorites such as Science You Can Eat, a workshop that focuses on using science with cooking, as well as Try it- Fly It, a workshop where you make your own glider and learn how to fly it and land it on a simulated runway. One new workshop will be pH Mysteries, a workshop that asks that questions: What is an acid? What is a base? They will conduct experiments to test various substances to figure out what this chemistry is all about, as well as The Science of Yoga, where they will learn the science and physiology behind asana yoga.
