This event is open to the general public. It will run from 10 am to 5 pm ET. Activities will include why eclipses happen and how to view them safely. Visitors can view the sun through the museum's 8 inch telescopes and Sunspotters. A live feed from several observatories will be shown continuously on the 20 foot LCD screens in the museum lobby. A highlight will be a live remote with museum staff observing the total eclipse from Kentucky. Live science demonstrations and crafts for kids of all ages will be offered throughout the day. A special showing of the Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon laser show will end the day. All museum exhibits will be open during the event.
