What is a SHARK FEST?

 

Shark Fest is a shark-themed family fun festival for KIDS and kids at heart.  2018 will bring dozens of interesting craft and marine life themed vendors (SHARKS given preference), snacks, & live music to the Waterfront Promenade at the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor Marina on June 30th. 

 

Come down and enjoy a relaxing stroll along the waterfront, browse the wares of the vendors that will line the sidewalk, enjoy the music, or enjoy the view from the beer and wine garden!

 

BUT BEWARE OF THE SHARK!

 

What About the Kids?

 

SHARKSTRAVAGANZA…That’s the shark show for kids and kids at heart. Learn a little, laugh a lot. Hear from some great shark fisherman, see some exciting shark catching footage as well as some pretty funny epic shark fails… So Sharkstravaganza happens a couple times during the day check back for our schedule of events. How about a COLORING CONTEST?

 

How about a SHARK coloring contest? No, no sharks can't color! But if you're a kid under 12 years old and you can color a shark this is for you!!!  Look for Chompy the Shark in local Atlantic Highlands restaurants and supporting businesses, color him, and bring him down to Shark Fest. Every entry gets a special prize and 6 skilled artists will be named winners! Can't find Chompy? Come on down, he will be here and we have plenty of crayons.

 

Kids... learn to fish or sharpen your skills! Meet the crew from Shark Sense - Our non-profit that offers free fishing classes and free fishing gear for kids of all ages and skill levels. Shark Sense will also have a free kids fishing derby during Shark Fest 2018. and at several of our other "fests" in 2018! 

 

But What About the SHARK?

 

​Well… Saturday also happens to be the final day of SHARK CHALLENGE 9. TEAMS of shark fishermen will have been off-shore Friday & Saturday hunting and battling shark, vying for a spot in line for thousands in tournament prize money! Saturday is the FINALE. Teams will be returning with shark that can weigh up to 1000 lbs!!! The shark will be hauled by boat right to Shark Fest and hoisted up onto the scale to be weighed and judged to determine the big Money winners of SHARK CHALLENGE 9. 

 

This year a special bonus category has been added to the SHARK CHALLENGE to greatly increase the odds there will be some BIG shark brought back to the scale on Saturday.
