The Friends of Lord Stirling Stable and the Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable will host the Fall Private Horse Hunter Pace on Sunday, September 10, 2017 beginning at 9:00 A.M. with the last team departing by 1:00 P.M. Teams of two to three riders are invited to follow a well-marked course that is 6 to 8 miles in length. There are usually more than 30 fences, up to 3’ in height. Fences 2’6” and higher are identified with a cone and there is a way around each fence.
Teams may choose to enter one of five divisions: Open, Family, Junior, Senior, or Hilltopper. Specifications are posted on the Friends’ website, www.flss.org. Ribbons are awarded to the first six teams in each division finishing closest to the “ideal time” set by the Pace Team.
Registration is done in person on the day of the event. Entry fee is $35.00 for juniors (under 18) and $40.00 for adults. A separate check or cash in the amount of $5.00 is required to obtain a pinney with the team number, and will be refunded upon return of the pinney. Light refreshments will be available.
An approved ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet and riding shoes or boots are mandatory for all participants. All riders must provide a negative Coggins taken within the past 12 months when registering. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed at all times. No alcoholic beverages are permitted on Park property.
