Description

Community Congregational Church, Short Hills, invites Christians regardless of their religious background to observances of Holy Week for all ages, culminating in the celebration of Easter on Sunday, April 16, including special worship services and family-friendly events. Community Church is a Christ-centered community, guided and inspired by the Bible, where everyone is welcome. Maundy Thursday, April 13, is observed at 7:30pm with a candlelight service of communion and Tenebrae (service of darkness), leading into Good Friday. The choir and soloists will present music of Brahms. On Good Friday, the Chapel is open from 12 noon to 3 PM for a self-guided, silent prayer vigil marking Christ’s crucifixion. All are welcome, and may enter and depart as desired. Easter (Sunday, April 16) is celebrated with family worship in the Sanctuary at 10:30am, featuring Phipp’s Alleluia sung by the choir and a message from The Rev. Dr. Johann J. Bosman. Following the children’s message, children age 3 through 5th grade may participate in special worship and activities designed for kids to explore the story of Easter. After the service, the Easter Bunny leads kids as they hunt for eggs on the church lawn weather permitting, while adults enjoy refreshments. Children may pose for pictures with the Easter Bunny. Community Church is located at 200 Hartshorn Drive in Short Hills. Parking is available behind the church, and the building is handicapped accessible. Childcare is offered at all morning services and as noted above. For more information, visit www.communitychurch.org or call 973-379-5600.
