You don't need to worry about this well-known spot running out of the kids’ favorite donut these sweets are 100 percent made to order. The Broad Street menu has it all, including options for vegans and gluten-free eaters. The shop even designs custom donuts for birthdays, weddings and other events. The menu has everything from standard glaze to Jersey pride faves like the Belmar Bliss (blueberry glaze, powdered sugar), the Long Branch (pineapple glaze, toasted coconut) and the kid-friendly Boardwalk (vanilla glaze, rainbow sprinkles).

While you’re there, go for one of the decadent numbers on the Triple Layer menu, like the Cotton Candy or the Tie Dye. Better yet, get something off the A Little Extra section: the Fair Haven (vanilla glaze, Heath bars, almonds and caramel), the West Park (chocolate glaze and a huge heap of Bavarian cream) or the All American (a sweet twist on a PB&J with black raspberry preserves). This limited-time red velvet donut (pictured) is topped with everything from cotton candy crunch to strawberry mousse.

This spot's donut menu rotates daily, so you're always in for a surprise. The donuts are made in small batches with top-tier natural ingredients (preservative- and high fructose corn syrup-free!) Glaze also knows how to brew an epic cup of joe, made from roasted organic Arabica beans from small Trade Fair growers around the world. These award-winning shops are famous for the original Italian Rainbow Donut (only available on weekends), but other popular flavors include Nutella, cannoli, Ring Ding, blueberry cream cheese and banana cream pie. Branch out with a  sweet kolache, a pastry filled with fruit and cream cheese, zepps (their name for donut holes) or an all-butter croissant. Glaze also has housemade soda pop, plus ice cream at Paramus and West Caldwell and waffles at New Milford and Paramus.

This unique locale calls itself "a bread bakery with a doughnut addiction." While the bread and croissants (Euro-style and made with natural ingredients) are to die for, the donuts steal the show. Order the Birthday Cake (vanilla or chocolate with frosting and sprinkles), or the seasonal Lucky Charms (brioche dough, green glaze, Lucky Charms) for the kids. Mix up your own baker’s dozen with signature flavors like Maple Bacon or Irish Coffee (Stumptown coffee glaze, filled with Bailey's-infused whipped cream). Montclair Bread also sponsors and hosts fun community events, most notably the Fueled by Doughnuts 5K races. The next is on June 10 in Branchbrook Park, Newark. Runners receive tank tops, donuts after every mile (yes, please!) and a spread of coffee, chocolate milk and, of course, even more donuts at the finish line.
