Muggles, prepare yourselves: you don’t need floo powder to visit Diagon Alley—well, for a day, at least. On Saturday, November 24, Newton will magically transform into the quirky wizarding world of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series for WizardCon, formerly known as Spells on Spring Street.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Jersey and Newton organized the event chock-full of potions and magic. From 1:30-5:30 pm, little wizards can shop local businesses that'll be transformed into stores and venues from the book series, peruse fairy garb, get a front-row seat at a Quidditch match, sip butter beer, indulge in a tarot reading and more. Kids can dress in their best cloaks for the cosplay contest, snap pics in the photo booth, solve a scavenger hunt, take Quidditch lessons and even try their hand at potions class. Grown fans can try themed drinks at local downtown bars, chow down at the food trucks and tune in to live music. Other activities include a meet-up with the Sorting Hat, letter writing to Santa and choir performances.

The magical festivities will begin after the town’s annual holiday parade, which makes the trip to Newton a day well-spent. (Or, if you have a time-turner, a never-ending festival of fun!)

Tickets are $15 for grown-ups and $10 for kids ages 4-17 (both plus taxes and fees. Like WizardCon on Facebook for updates.
