Having practiced pediatric dentistry for more than 40 years, Dr. Richard Eytel and his team make children and teenagers feel at home in their welcoming, kid-friendly office. They pride themselves on practicing the “tell, show, do” method of dentistry.

“No matter their age, we take the time to explain treatment to our patients every step of the way—that’s what takes the fear out of dental visits,” says the father of two. Dr. Eytel has special expertise in working with special needs patients.

A Team Approach to Dental Care

Dentistry for Children of West Essex attributes its success to its efficient, friendly and knowledgeable team. Dr. Eytel works alongside pediatric dentists Dr. Iva Leroy and Dr. Meeta Grewal, orthodontist Dr. Kevin Persily and general dentist Dr. Elliot Nash.

“Some of my staff has been with me for 20 or 30 years, so we’re truly like a family,” he says. “Our dedication, talent and love for children are evident to everyone.”

A Focus on Prevention

The practice offers digital radiography to reduce radiation and applies sealants to protect teeth from cavities. The chief of pediatric dentistry at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Eytel provides dental treatments under general anesthesia in a hospital setting for patients who need it.

“Our practice is very prevention-oriented; we’re here to help prevent dental disease—not just treat it,” he says. A board-certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Eytel earned his DMD at UMDNJ and completed his training in pediatric dentistry at New Jersey Dental School.

“Our goal is happy, healthy patients who when leaving our office as young adults will have a positive attitude toward dentistry for the rest of their lives,” he says.
