An Epic Christmas Pop-Up Bar Is Coming to NJ

The NYC fave is opening soon in an Essex County town with new cocktails in tow.

There’s need to trek to NYC’s Instagram-famous Rolf’s for holiday drinks and pics this year. Get your fix at Nutley’s own Cowan’s Pub, which will be decked out to the nines with holiday decor, and slinging next-level drinks with seasonal inspiration. Miracle on Centre, a pop-up bar inside Cowan’s, will open November 23 and mixing up all things holly jolly until New Year’s Eve.

Miracle started in the East Village of NYC in 2014 and quickly expanded to other US locations, plus in Montreal, Paris and Greece. This winter, 33 states boast a Miracle of their own. Further expansion to Asia and Central America is also underway.

While the decor is Instaworthy on its own, the true star of the show is the cocktail menu. Old faves include the Snowball Old Fashioned (butterscotch rye, spiced demerara, wormwood bitters, orange zest) complete with a snowball of ice, while newcomers like the And a Partridge In a Pear Tree (reposado tequila, pear brandy, mezcal, spiced demerara syrup, lime, egg white, club soda, angostura bitters, cinnamon) are sure to be showstoppers, as well. You’ll even find a pumpkin-forward drink, the Christmas Carol Barrel (aged rum, aquavit, amaro, Pumpkin Pie, demerara syrup, lime, vanilla, angostura bitters), just in case you didn’t get your fill of PSL’s this fall.

Other noteworthy drinks include the Run Run Rudolph, made with prosecco, gin, mulled wine puree, lemon and cane syrup; the Christmapolitan, a twist on the classic made with vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime and absinthe mist; the Bad Santa hot milk punch, loaded with Barbados rum, fruit juices, coconut water and oil and spices and, of course, Jingle Bells Nog, spiked with cognac and sherry, plus brown butter, almond milk, cherry and other flavors.

Don’t skip over the shot selections either. Would you go for the Nice (rum, peppermint, chocolate) or the Naughty (bourbon, cinnamon)?

Better yet, this pop-up is more than just cocktails. All cocktails are served in Cocktail Kingdom’s signature Miracle glassware, all of which are available for purchase. In the spirit of the season, Miracle (along with other locales across the US) is donating 10 percent of all glassware sales to Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian org that fights hunger and provides access to water, food, healthcare and emergency response services internationally.

Miracle on Centre will be open Monday through Friday from 4 pm-2 am and noon-2 am on weekends.
