1. The Aloha Burger

For a tropical twist on a traditional burger, try this fruity recipe which combines sweet and savory flavors into one. 

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices bacon (optional)

  • 4 beef patties (substitute veggie patties)

  • 1 can pineapple rings

  • 1 cup romaine lettuce

  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce

  • 4 hamburger buns

  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

2. Vegetarian Buffalo Quinoa Burgers

Go the vegetarian route by subbing traditional beef for quinoa. And don’t worry; it’s still super-filling and packed with protein.

Ingredients:

  • 7 teaspoons canola oil, divided

  • 3/4 cup finely chopped onion

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped peeled carrot

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1/3 cup uncooked quinoa

  • 1/2 cup panko

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 1/2 cups canned unsalted chickpeas, rinsed and drained

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce

  • 4 whole-wheat hamburger buns, toasted

  • 4 romaine lettuce leaves

  • 4 1/4-inch-thick slices tomato

3. Western Bacon Burgers with BBQ Mayo and Crispy Onion Strings

If you’re looking to give your burger some restaurant flair, fry up some onions to put on top. It only adds about two minutes to your cook time.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • ½ white onion

  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • ½ cup flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • ⅓ cup BBQ sauce

  • ⅓ cup mayo

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • 8 slices of bacon, cooked until crisp

This juicy burger is bursting with flavor (and a little heat thanks to the jalapenos), and takes less than 40 minutes to make.

Ingredients:

● 28 ounces lean turkey or beef (not extra lean)

● 2 tablespoons finely minced onion

● Salt and pepper to taste

● 4 tablespoons cream cheese

● 2 ounces shredded cheddar cheese

● ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

● 1 fresh jalapeno pepper, diced (seeds removed if you prefer less spice)

● 1 tablespoon olive oil

5. Asian Burgers with Sriracha Mayo

Looking to spice up your typical backyard burger? Enjoy the big flavor of Asian-style burgers with homemade mayo that’s incredibly easy to make!

Ingredients:

  • 1½ pounds lean ground beef

  • ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs

  • 2 tablespoons Asian oyster sauce

  • 2 tablespoons regular soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons onion powder

  • 1 teaspoons Asian toasted sesame oil (caramel brown in color)

  • ½ teaspoons ground ginger

  • ¼ teaspoons white pepper

  • ¼ teaspoons kosher salt

  • 1 egg

Sriracha Mayo:

  • ½ cup whole mayo

  • 4 teaspoons Sriracha

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (kick up or tone down the amount of Sriracha as desired.)

  • 1 large egg

If you have a vegan under your roof, this lentil walnut burger is a flavor-packed option.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup chopped red onions

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • ¼ inch ginger

  • ⅓ cup walnuts

  • ¼ cup packed cilantro

  • ¾ teaspoon salt or more (depends on if the lentils were salted)

  • ¾ teaspoon each of ground cumin, coriander

  • ½ teaspoon garlic

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne (or use sweet paprika and a good dash of black pepper for less heat)

  • ½ teaspoon garam masala

  • 3-4 basil leaves (optional)

  • ¾ cup cooked brown or white rice

  • 1 ½ cups cooked brown lentils or 1 15-ounce can

  • 2 teaspoons ketchup or BBQ sauce

  • 1 teaspoon oil

  • 1 flax egg (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal mixed in 2.5 tablespoons warm water; let sit for 2 minutes)

  • 3 to 4 tablespoons breadcrumbs or flour
